Meet the Heart of Our Practice
Dr. Matthew Yuen
DDSDr. Matthew Yuen grew up in Alameda, CA. He has an older sister and two younger brothers and loves his niece and nephew. He played almost every sport and growing up wanted to become a professional baseball player.
Pro sports weren’t in the cards for Dr. Yuen, so he went to UC Davis and majored in Exercise Biology and minored in Technology Management through the UC Davis Graduate School of Management

Dr. Jimin Suh
Dr. Suh was born in South Korea and grew up primarily in Maryland. During her high school and college years, she discovered the powerful impact that a healthy smile can have on a person's confidence and overall well-being — inspiring her to pursue a career in dentistry.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. After dental school, Dr. Suh moved to the Bay Area to complete a General Practice Residency at Highland Hospital in Oakland. Although she initially planned to return to the East Coast, she quickly fell in love with the Bay Area’s vibrant community and natural beauty — and decided to make it her new home.

Martha
office managerMartha has been an office manager in the dental field since 1998, bringing over two decades of experience, warmth, and dedication to her role. Originally from Cali, Colombia, she is passionate about creating meaningful connections with patients while guiding them through their dental journey. Martha finds true reward in seeing patients leave the office not only relieved of pain but also genuinely happier and more confident.
Known for her compassionate nature, Martha takes pride in making people smile—both through quality care and genuine human connection.
Outside of work, Martha is a devoted wife and proud mother of three wonderful children. She cherishes spending time with her family, especially traveling and creating lasting memories together. In her downtime, she enjoys diving into true crime documentaries.
Kyla
Lead Dental AssistantWith over 20 years of experience in this practice, Kyla services as a Back Office Lead Dental Assistant. Throughout her career she's developed a passion for making patients feel comfortable and confident in their smiles, always striving to provide a positive and welcoming experience in every visit.
Outside of work, family is everything to her. She feels blessed to share her life with her husband of 23 years, 8 children, 2 grandchildren and her little chihuahua (CeCe). She treasures spending quality time with her loved ones whether it's a weekend getaway, a family gathering or just a cozy evening at home.
When she's not with family, she is traveling, especially to the ocean where she unwinds and recharges. Catching up with friends is also one of her favorite ways to relax and enjoy life.
Kasia
Dental HygienistKasia has been working in dentistry for about 37 years of experience; started as an assistant, after a while went back to school and became a Dental Hygienist (20 years now).
Kasia enjoys her time with patients talking about their dental needs, also about their lives and experiences. She loves to travel, read (especially historical novels), gardening, and spend time with her family and friends. Kasia has been married for 36 years and has 2 adult sons.
Wen
Dental HygienistWen received her dental hygiene degree from Chabot College and her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis. In her spare time, she enjoys taking yoga classes, painting, and trying new restaurants. She also likes to travel. Her favorite place to visit is Hawaii, and she would love to visit all the islands someday.
Vicky
Dental HygienistVicky was born in China and has lived in California with her family for nearly 20 years. She is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese, which allows her to connect with a diverse patient community.
With nearly 15 years of experience in the dental field, Vicky began her career as a dental assistant and later discovered her passion for dental hygiene. She values the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients while promoting better health and confidence.
Vicky earned her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Chabot College. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs and exploring different cuisines through cooking.
Janice
Dental HygienistJanice has been a dedicated Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) since 2002, bringing over two decades of experience in preventive dental care and patient education. She has a passion for helping patients feel at ease during their appointments, especially those who may be apprehensive about dental procedures. Known for her compassionate approach, Janice focuses on building strong relationships with her patients to ensure they receive the best care in a comfortable, stress-free environment.
A graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene program, Janice furthered her expertise by earning her RDH in Alternative Practice Certification from the University of the Pacific. She believes that every patient deserves personalized care, and she strives to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to maintain a healthy, confident smile.
When she’s not at work, Janice enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, and reading, always seeking balance and wellness in her personal life. Her commitment to lifelong learning and patient care makes her an invaluable member of the Advantage Dental team.
Maria
Patient Care CoordinatorMaria is honored to be part of the dynamic Castro Valley Advantage Dental team, where her passion for compassionate, honest care and sincere personal connections with patients has found new meaning.
Originally from the Philippines, Maria practiced dentistry for 10 years before moving to California to marry her husband. Together, they are blessed with two beautiful and loving daughters. After briefly working as a Registered Dental Assistant, Maria chose to focus on raising their girls before returning to the dental field in her current role.
Outside of work, Maria enjoys cooking, gardening, and has recently discovered a love for baking sourdough bread. She cherishes time with her family and friends, especially nature trips, beach days with her daughters, exploring new restaurants, and watching movies.
Maria believes that humility and kindness, when done with faith and love, are always rewarded — a principle she strives to live by every day, by the grace of God.
Vanessa
Treatment care coordinatorVanessa has been a dedicated member of the dental field since 2008 and brings years of experience and compassion to her role as a Treatment Coordinator. She takes pride in helping patients understand their treatment options, guiding them toward better health, and building lasting relationships along the way.
Outside the office, Vanessa is a proud mother of three boys. She loves spending time outdoors—especially near the water—and cherishes family barbecues. Her favorite pastime? Cooking up delicious meals for her loved ones!
Carlos
Dental AssistantBorn and raised in Oakland, Carlos is a down-to-earth guy who values family, home, and the simple pleasures in life. Growing up with his loving mom, brother, and sister, Carlos always found comfort in his close-knit family, and now, his family includes three beloved pets: a playful poodle named Lilu and two curious cats, Luna and Estrella, whose names mean "moon" and "star" in Spanish.
A self-proclaimed homebody, Carlos enjoys the quiet of home, often winding down by watching anime or playing video games. However, when he's not in his cozy space, he's out hiking in Redwood Park or hosting cookouts with his family—quality time that he cherishes.
As a dedicated Dental Assistant, Carlos loves the rewarding aspects of his job. He finds fulfillment in meeting new people, offering them care, and seeing them leave the office feeling better than when they arrived. His passion for helping others shines through in every interaction.
